RCMP
contacted us to search for a boat stranded on the sandbar on Pitt Lake.
The concern was that there were five children on board and high tide
wouldn’t occur until about 04:30. We staged at Grant Narrows
and launched the hovercraft. From the description given by the
complainant, the boat was somewhere in the area of the North/South
channel. We searched in the area but were unable to locate the
subjects. Unbeknownst to us at the time, a friend of the subject had
launched his boat and had retrieved the subject. Both boats and the
hovercraft arrived back at the dock at the same time.

2 RMSAR members along with SAR members from Coquitlam
SAR, North Shore Rescue, Lions Bay SAR, Surrey SAR, Mission SAR and Kent Harrison

hunter. 69 year old Annie Jack and her 78 year old husband had been
hunting near Bidwell Creek when their vehicle broke down. She left her
husband and vehicle to walk for help. When she did not return, her
husband proceeded to walk out and was found 6 days later suffering from
pneumonia. A large search was then mounted involving over 100
searchers. On Sunday, a driver located her body on a logging road some
25 km from where she left the vehicle

RMSAR was contacted by Coquitlam SAR
at 22:00hrs to assist in the search for a possible abandoned kayak or
windsurfboard seen floating in the Pitt River. The object was seen by a
passing boater who then called it in to the RCMP
. Their was concern that there may be a person connected with the
object and so two boats were launched and searched the Pitt River from
the Alouette River to Grant Narrows
at Pitt Lake. A windsurf board was located near the position last seen.
It was upside down and tied to a buoy. It was felt that this was the
object that was seen. As no-one was reported missing, the search was
stood down at 04:00hrs

RMSAR was contacted by Ridge Meadows RCMP
to respond to the park for four hikers who had called in on their
cell-phone stating that they were lost on the Golden Ears trail. They
were able to supply the RCMP
with a lat/long of their position which placed them just past the Gold
Creek Look-out. We sent up a hasty-team of three members who made
contact with the subjects who were waiting on the trail. They had
attempted to climb the summit of Golden Ears but it took longer than
they anticipated and darkness had settled in by the time they had
reached their current location. The flashlights they had were dimming
and they were unsure if they would be able to follow the trail in the
dark, so they opted to call for help. They were carrying some supplies
but had run out of food and were not carrying extra clothing to cope
with the rain. We escorted them back to the parking lot shortly after
0230hrs. Task was concluded at 04:30hrs
