Missing Man at Pitt Lake PDF Print
Monday, 19 April 2010
Ridge Meadows SAR was contacted to assist in the search for a 48 year old man reported overdue on the Coquitlam side of the Pitt River near Grant Narrows. We responded with our boat, Ridge 2 and hovercraft, Ridge 4. One ground team was assigned to check out the few remaining cabins in the area while another member joined forces with the RCMP dog handler to see if they could follow a track from the last know point of the missing man. Coquitlam SAR also responded with ground teams heading in to the forestry campground at Widgeon Creek and their inflatable boat, launching from the Grant Narrows ramp.

Now sign of the man was found near any of the structures in the area. At approximately 20:30, the RCMP dog team located the subject tired, thirsty, hungry and somewhat scratched up from fighting through the blackberries but otherwise ok. We provided him wim some water and snacks and them extricated him back to the Grant Narrows boat launch.

After a brief discussion with the SAR manager and RCMP, we transported him back across the river to the cabin where he was staying.
