On the afternoon of December 25th, we were contacted by the RCMP to assist with a "police incident" on the new Golden Ears Bridge. Two RMSAR members launched the rescue boat "Ridge 2" from the ramp at Haney Marine and headed downstream towards the bridge, while another member was stationed at a command post near the north end of the bridge. At the request of the RCMP, we stayed approximately one kilometre upstream from the bridge and waited there until further assistance was required. After spending approximately two hours at that location we were forced to move upstream due to an advancing fog bank and near zero visibility. Shortly after that, the incident was resolved successfully and we were released to return to base.
All subjects involved in the incident were uninjured.
