On Wednesday July 20,2011 at 2040hrs, RMSAR was contacted by Ridge Meadows RCMP to respond to Golden Ears Park for a hiker who had called in to say he was lost somewhere on the summit of Alouette Mountain. He had been trying to find his way down for several hours and was becoming cold and tired. RCMP Air 2 helicopter was in the area and proceeded to search the area. Talon Helicopters were also contacted to fly searchers to the top of the mountain. Air 2 was able to spot the subject and despite cloudy conditions, was able to land and pick up the subject. The subject was a 19 y/o male who was ill equipped for the hike. Dressed only in runners, shorts, shirt and a light jacket and carrying only food and water, he was suffering from the early stages of hypothermia. Had he not been picked up by the helicopter, he would have been in much worse shape by the time search crews would have located him.
